KIDS PROGRAM (AGE 9-14)

"Never give up! Failure and rejection are only the first step to succeeding."

Through the art of Brazilian Jiujitsu, the young student will embark on a fun and motivational journey that will increase their self-respect and confidence.

Who is Leo Neves? How can he help your child attain a more active lifestyle all while improving his or her general well being?

My name is Leonardo Neves and I am a black-belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu with over 20 years of teaching both adults and children from a variety of personal backgrounds. Throughout the years, I have helped children improve their mental, emotional and physical boundaries with this sport. A child’s formative years can sometimes be physically and mentally challenging so it is important to that they learn good habits from an early age. I have seen first hand that Jiujitsu can improve aspects of this stage of life by increasing the child’s focus and concentration. I have worked with children and adolescents who encountered challenges such as managing their ADD, ADHD, and Hyperactive states of being and have found that within a few weeks of practicing the sport, they showed significant signs of mental calmness and personal drive. Their parents have also noticed the positive effects that their children experience from practicing Jiujitsu and often decide to start training in the sport themselves as a source of stress-relief.

Jiujitsu helps regulate a healthy body weight.

Complimentary to the mental benefits of Jiujitsu – the sport also helps regulate body weight. Fat loss and increased muscle mass (in some cases) are among some of the physical benefits of this sport as it combines both strength training and cardio. Jiujitsu will help the practitioner work on their mobility, strength and flexibility making the sport a comprehensive exercise that engages all aspects of the body and mind.

Jiujitsu teaches skills for life.

Your child will learn valuable life skills through Jiujitsu as he or she will develop their own style of progress in the sport. They will learn to set and reach goals for themselves that will give them a sense of autonomy and independence. They will also learn a sense of community and group work by practicing rolling (drilling the moves) with their teammates.

Neves’ unique Jiujitsu program is designed with the child in mind. The growth and mindfulness that the child will attain through Jiujitsu will carry on with them throughout
their life.
